OUR story

Hello there! This is our story. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

What you probably didn't know is that the Quirkbot product was originally conceived by kids and organizers of the global Kids Hack Day movement. We are now four co-founders of Quirkbot but Kids Hack Day is really where we come from. It's our story.

We could never have imagined the level of engagement that this product would cause amongst teachers around world.

Starting from august 2013 we have been running and supporting creative technology events for kids all over the world. Finding it hard to get a hold of the right materials we started playing with the idea of creating our own product. We knew the community had already called for it. A material that would allow kids to combine what they had learnt during the day about programming, electronics and mechanics and merge it into one single activity. Before knowing it, we had set out to create something that would allow kids to use off-the-shelf materials to build and program their own robots from scratch in the course of just one day. Sounds easy right?

KICKSTARTER!

1 year after the idea for Quirkbot was born (in february 2014) and a lot of sweat and tears, we decided we were finally ready to engage the whole community and launch an early version of the product on kickstarter. At the time we could never have imagined the level of engagement that this product would cause amongst teachers around world. Now we are setting out to help these teachers in their mission to change education at its core. What can we say? It's the best job in the world! :)

OUR VALUES

We believe in the maker-mindset. That’s all about modifying, improving, learning, sharing and having fun while doing it! We envision a future where technology is used to build a more humane society. Where it’s used to enhance human values, not replace them. Values like creativity, curiosity and the empathic drive to help others. If we could just awaken the maker inside all of us, we believe the world would be a much better place. That’s why the Quirkbot company exists and that's why we are here to stay.
